PD Warrior originates from Australia and is a physical programme of motivation and exercise that works on mind and body coordination.
Karen explains “PD Warrior is designed for people recently diagnosed or in the early stages of Parkinson’s disease. It can help improve mobility, decrease tremors, increase your energy levels and contribute to slowing down the progression of Parkinson’s disease”.
Karen is a licensee of PD Warrior and is the lead PD Warrior trainer based in the UK.
She qualified as a physiotherapist in 1987 and has specialised in the field of neurology since 1989. Since 2004 Karen has been Director of Hallamshire Physiotherapy Clinic in Sheffield. Her main area of interest is the treatment of neurological conditions including Parkinson’s, stroke, multiple sclerosis & traumatic brain injury.
Prior to this Karen was a senior lecturer in physiotherapy at both Sheffield Hallam & Leeds Metropolitan Universities. She is currently an Associate Lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University UK and post-graduate students undertake clinical placements at the Hallamshire Clinic.
Karen has been an external examiner for physiotherapy and has lectured internationally. In her career she has trained and impacted thousands of students – undergraduates, post-graduates & clinicians.
Fighting Fit is an innovative residential weekend programme for younger and working-age people with Parkinson’s that encourages self-awareness and helps each participant to take greater control of their life. The aim is to provide information and sign-posting, to share experiences and discuss the practical and emotional impact of living and working with Parkinson’s.
