Taking Control

Over the two days of the programme we will be encouraging you to think about ways in which you can take more control of your life. What this means in practice is the following:
  • Think positive
Look for the positives and focus on what you can do.
  • Get informed
Find out what you can about Parkinson’s and know your rights so you can make choices about your lifestyle, treatment and care.
  • Stay connected
Make time for family and friends, and meet and learn from others with similar experiences.
  • Do things
Do whatever you enjoy that helps you to live life to the full.
  • Make plans
Set personal goals and make positive life changes to help you achieve your targets.
  • Be involved
Share your skills and make a difference, however big or small.

You will talk to others about ways to manage the condition. You will connect with others in discussions about work, finances and relationships and at the end of the programme we guarantee that you will want to make new promises to yourself (and maybe your partner) that have the power to significantly change your home and working life for the better.

And if it is something you want, then we’d like to stay in touch to support you when you are back home by reinforcing the points covered in the Fighting Fit programme.
